Happy Birthday, America!
At Sea
Now...just to let everyone know...I am 1 day behind in writing the blog. I will do my best to remember everything that happened today...which is yesterday.
Good morning! We slept in and it was GOOD! Brandi went to work our and I started writing the blog until...10AM. TRIVIA TIME!
Clap for trivia! We did OK but not spectacular. It was “USA Trivia” and it looks like some of us need to bone up on our American history. We did well...but not well enough to win. Bummer.
After that, it was time to try some bingo. They totally changed it. I can’t really explain it, but there wasn’t a B-I-N-G-O across the top of the card. How is that bingo? Well...that didn’t bother the die hards, they played anyway. Brandi and I both played to get it out of our system.
Mmmmmm....lunch. Hello Windjammer! I love that place. They have EVERYTHING up there. Pasta, sandwiches, burgers, fries, chicken...then I had, I mean then THEY have, cookies and cake and ice cream, etc. Clap for the Windjammer!
This next activity was at Brandi’s request...Samba lessons. 1...ah 2...3...ah 4...5...ah 6...7 and 8. It really was that simple...to say. I thought I was going to have trouble moving my hips. My hips moved fine. Next time, I’ll get them to move to the music. Seriously though, it was an experience I will never forget, and that’s mostly because Brandi took video. HAHAHAHA!
After the hip thrusting, it was time for more trivia! Once again...we failed to bring home any prize. I have come to the conclusion that all of the serious trivialites go on the Alaskan cruises.
The next event was something I never thought I’d do on a ship...seperate from Brandi and play in a Wii Bowling Tournament. Seriously though...that was a blast! Brandi hung out for the first little bit, but then got bored and and went to play some bingo. Clap...clap...N-G-O! I was doing very well during the qualifying rounds, so well in fact that I qualified for the finals...then I started to suck pretty bad. I came in 4th...didn’t even get a participation award! Oh well...I had fun! And that’s all that matters.
Funny note. Elise...my girlfriend on this cruise...(I have one every cruise) said that the 18-20+ Wii Bowling Tournament only had 8 entrants. The Adult Wii Bowling Tournament had 32. Hooray for adults!
Soooo...after I was done sucking at Wii Bowling and coming in fourth, I went to see how Brandi was doing at bingo. I got there during the final card...then...out of nowhere...”Bingo! Bingo! Bingo! Bingo! Bingo! Bingo!” It was Shpuck’s mom! She won! And boy was she excited! Well, honestly, I would be excited too.
After the “Bingo!” explosion, Brandi and I went to the Solarium and hung out with Shpuck and crew. We ate some food. Note: Royal Caribbean makes the best french fries in the universe.
It was still a litle early, but it was a formal night and Brandi was going to need some extra time getting ready for the evening. I got ready quickly and decided that while I was waiting for Brandi, I would go to the casino. Bad idea. I won...but then I lost. Oh well...darn you Casino Royale on the Rhapsody of the Seas!
Believe it or not, Brandi was ready a little early. I went back to the room, picked her up, and we went to casino to earn some money back. Instead, we walked around and decided that we’d rather sit in the Centrum and listen to the Jazz Trio. Talented 2 of them are...
Yeah...so...mixed feelings on the jazz trio. The drummer and the piano player/bass player: talented. The singer: bad. It’s difficult to put in words, but she is just plain....bad. Which was a bummer, since the other 2 dudes are quite talented.
We met up with the rest of the group for pictures at 8pm. They look good.
As soon as we took the last picture, Brandi and I went to the watch raffle. We didn’t win. So...time to eat.
As always, dinner was superb. After dinner we decided that we would go to the Shall We dance Lounge and watch some Karaoke. Brandi and I were in there 10 seconds and realized that this was not the “fun” type of Karaoke. It was the other type of Karaoke where the people who were getting up to sing were thinking that they were good. We wanted the “let’s have a great time and sing our hearts out because we know that we can’t sing” kinda Karaoke. So we left...
...and went to the Schooner Bar, where it’s always a “5 minute party!” Basically, there’s a guy in the Schooner Bar who plays guitar, sings dirty versions of songs, and picks out people to come up and sing some Karaoke, but he picks the songs.
It was getting a little late...almost 11:30 and we were a tad tired. Derek....the Kamikaze Karaoke host, was letting people leave with much hassle...until we tried to leave. I told Brandi we should leave out the back. She said, “No...he’s letting people leave. Let’s just go out the front.” Remember that we were dressed up...a lot. Well...on our way out, Derek said that we had to stop because we looked so cool. We then were forced to entertain the Schooner Bar faithful with our rendition of “Summer Nights” from Grease. Brandi and I actually did pretty well. and in doing so, became, “Superstahs!” It was awesome...because we’re awesome. And now everyone knows it.
Sleepy time.
